Quick Movie Review: Not so Youthful friendship

This review is dedicated to famous critic Roger Ebert

What will be your answer when someone asks which movie comes to your mind when you hear  these words

A son resenting his father for being in army, funny friends, oddball teachers, sexy teachers, countless clichés, makeovers, love, couples, running dangerously on a school's terrace top, college, superman, classrooms, romance, colours,

My answer would be Main Hoon Na

But no we have another movie following the same Darjeeling school template- called "Yaariyan"

A music video would have been better directorial for Divya Khosla Kumar. Mrs Kumar is copied most of her scenes and setting from 'Main Hoon na'. While the Shah Rukh Khan starrer was entertaining inspite of its 70s premise, "Yaariyaan' does not come even closer by 10%.

I cannot say which is my favourite scene in the movie. It is full of incoherent tracks that are dilly dallying from a competition in India to racial attacks in Australia and back to a "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander" moment back in India.

Worst scene in the movie is a girl having wardrobe malfunction while playing Bharat Mata and the joke is stretched too much making audience shrink with disgust. How can the censor board be liberal with such scenes is beyond my imagination.

This supposed youthful entertainer borders on vulgarity with the only saving grace of  the songs. Whenever Deepti Naval was crying in the movie it seemed more alike the audience reaction what am I doing here? ;(

Watchable elements:
Baarish song had good picturisation
All the songs have good tunes

Avoidable:
The film

A word for the lead actor Himanshu Kohli . He has a cute face and also acts decently. He reminds of Shahid Kapoor in some sequences. Choose you projects wisely boy.

Last word : As a movie Yaariyan fails completely . It does not deserve our thumb meter. It is the first Zero Rated movie of this blog.
