My review: 3 -starring Dhanush, Shruti Haasan

File:3 Tamil movie poster.jpg
Verdict:"3" is worth one time watch.

Ram is dead leaving Janani grappling with his loss. Was he murdered or did he commit suicide. Janani cannot bear his loss and is crying all the time losing her consciousness half the time. We are introduced to the sweet moments between Ram  (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruti) right from their college days. There is not so much conflict in their love except for opposition initially from Janani's parents who eventually understand her love after seeing her mute sister speak.

Ram and Janani are married and live in marital bliss. He brings her a dog and they celebrate their first anniversary. So what happened that he commited suicide? was the big reveal. He has a condition of manic bipolar disorder but the entire second half gets suddenly dragging. The editor should have cut short some scenes whether it is the unnecessary fight or the letter writing one. But we get to see why Ram had to die leaving Shruti behind.

Dhanush acts well but is let down by some unnecessary bits that takeaway his brilliant portrayal. Watch the movie for sure at least for the music in background which is the best.

Good:
Music and Background score by Anirudh Ravichander. Kolaveri Di and other songs are memorable.
Acting by Shruti and Dhanush
The scene where Janani is still left kissing in the air remembering Ram
The scene where Janani's sister talks for first time

Bad:
Incorrect depiction of Bipolar disorder
The green figures when Ram faces hallucinations
The scene where Ram is writing a letter before suicide is too stretched
Entire Second half

An advisory note to Aishwarya who has debuted in this movie as director is to stick to romance next time rather than delving in unnecessary direction. It was good till then.

Rating: 2.5 ot of 5
