Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC) reviews

One India Rating: 3/5
In the last 25 years, no Telugu filmmaker or big actor has come forward to do a multi-starrer movie. Director Srikanth Addala and producer Dil Raju have done it and dared to bring two superstars (Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh) together on screen with Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC), which has hit the marquee today. The much-hyped movie, which had created huge expectations among the film goers, is really a wonderful flick that suits the image of the superstars and it is a big treat for their fans this Sankranthi.

Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is a complete family drama with a few commercial elements. The performances of Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh are the main attractions in the film. Srikanth Addala's brilliant narration and dialogues, Mickey J Meyer's melodious music, KV Guhan's beautiful picturisation are its other highlights. What the film lacks is the absence of lead actors' heroism and slow-paced narration in the second half.

The movie narrates a simple and beautiful story, which revolves around a middle class family. The movie is all about brother sentiment. With his brilliant storytelling, Srikanth Addala has brought out the emotions between various characters in the family in a realistic way. The first half of the film is very interesting with few heart touching moments and songs. The second half is also good, but it falls short to catch up fast with the pace of the narration.

Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu shows us how to handle complex situations in family relationships.

The best part of the film is about the characterizations and the way director Sreekanth Addala handled the screenplay. Some heart-tugging conceptualization and dialogues in the film makes it a must watch.

The film initially shows Venkatesh emoting a serious role, thereby depriving you of his fantastic flair for humour. But as it progresses, the depiction of the family's ties through small incidents stands out for the panache with which it is done.

The bond of affection and love between Mahesh and Venkatesh is overpowering and all conquering. And how these strong-willed brothers keep the family together was neatly narrated
Mahesh Babu - Bereft of his biggest crowd-pulling draws and action - he stills puts in a performance that etches in even deeper his reputation as one of the finest actors.

The performances are fantastic and the greatest asset to the film. Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh look like real-life brothers and all the scenes involving Venkatesh and Mahesh in the same frame are great.

Scenes, where Mahesh Babu tells Venkatesh to change his attitude for the first time, was brilliantly shot. In fact, Mahesh-Venkatesh's mobile conversations are witty
Samantha and Anjali are quite apt for the lead-ladies role.

Some of the highlights of the film include superb characterizations, great performances, well-handling of emotions.

On the flip side there is less quotient of comedy and a slow second half might make the film uninteresting

The first half of the film is good where in it establishes and defines all character. The second half is more effective because the director could really bring heavy emotions out and end the film smoothly

It is nice to enjoy movies that tickle your funny bone, ever since “Dhee” arrived we have been treated to a continuous string of comedy movies at the risk of feeling scared and we wondered if creativity had reached a dead end in commercial cinema. 2013 gives you just not a ray of hope but clears all the doubts and paves way for bright golden sunshine for the Telugu film industry. Srikant Addala’s investment of three years has borne fruit and how! The director’s plot, thinking, goal and his value for a theme as old as the villages and the character’s attitude just not contemporary but far ahead, ahead enough to set an example to the next generation is the concept that drives the film.
The best part about the director is that he had studied the two stars well, he had understood their body language well and he carefully let them sink in the dialogues meant for Peddhodu and Chinnodu and let them be. The rest of the film flows because Venkatesh and Mahesh played a great part integral to their personalities. The story in a nut shell is about a family that flourishes on good values. The director in the beginning of the film says a smile will go a long way in establishing relationships as this life is short. The same point is repeated by a father towards the end of the film while sitting in between his sons, happy and proud of giving the world good human beings.
Everyone wondered if the title would be as beautiful as the story but mark our words, we end up walking out of the theatre wishing the film was as lengthy as the title and one would want to sit back to see an encore of SVSC.
