Differences between movie and novel. #1 Tom Cruise character should be Japanese #2 Emily blunt character is supposed to be american from mid west #3 big fight is supposed to be in Japan #4 character wakes up in army bunk bed not on luggage #5 character always dies in battle not shot in head for reset. author who wrote the book was inspired by replaying video games until he succeeded in winning.

in the book the aliens worked like a big computer. There is 1 alien (the computer) is controlling the loop while being guarded by others (the servers) and to make things even harder there is another line of defense (back up servers). All servers and backup servers must be destroyed in order to take out the computer and end the loop. Atleast that was how it was in the book. I have o idea if they will have that concept in the movie. Show less
